Rhythm - 2008
Rhythm Magazine (Feb '08) FIVE-STAR REVIEW!
"A pair of exceptionally fine brass snare drums from master drum builder Johnny Craviotto, gets reviewer Geoff Nicholls' mouth watering...".

Geoff Nicholls of Rhythm Magazine recently reviewed the Craviotto Diamond Series Snare Drums, offered in sizes 5.5x14" & 6.5x14". Geoff's remarks on the details of these special drums, showcases the quality of each superbly hand-crafted, hand-engraved shell. In partnership with AK Drums - Italy, Craviotto's first introduction of a metal drum to the marketplace, has left a memorable impression. Each shell is finished as Nickel over Brass, and comes complete with the Craviotto logo and individual serial number hand-engraved directly on the shell. Geoff also makes mentions that Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers acquired the first drum to ever ship from the Craviotto factory 3/12/07. Chad Smith has #5/50 5.5x14 in his personal snare drum collection.

Other artists with Diamond's in their snare drum arsenal:

MODERN DRUMMER (OCT. 2007) In-Depth Reviews on Craviotto's Hybrid Kit & 30' Degree Vintage Edge Snare Drum.
Craviotto's one-of-a-kind Cherry/Walnut Hybrid Kit, soon to be on tour with Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos), received a glowing review in the October 2007 issue of Modern Drummer. The article discusses the specific tonal qualities that each wood provides to this special kit, as well as the detail Craviotto works into each drum.

Craviotto is currently working on more "Solid-Ply Hybrid" configurations, and has already received orders for these special kits. Customer's can request different woods to create a truly unique, custom Hybrid kit.

"You'll see an unparalleled level of hand-crafted quality, that's evident in every aspect of the drums. The Hybrid Kit is an example of what Craviotto's Custom Shop can produce. Simply beautiful..." says Chap Ostrander of Modern Drummer.

Mr. Ostrander continued his gracious article, reviewing Craviotto's 6.5x14 - 30' Degree Vintage Edge Snare Drum. The 30' Degree Vintage Edge Snare Drum gained a buzz after being played by Craviotto Artists in 2006. In January/February of 2007, Craviotto made this drum available to dealers. The buzz, has turned into a roar. The 30' Degree Vintage Edge, allows more head contact with the drum-shell - providing a round, warm, fatter-toned drum. Craviotto also offers the option of 30' Degree Edges on it's drum kits as well. The possibilities are endless...

"I could make the Vintage Edge snare drum work in any situation. Rock, Jazz... whatever. Brush work was clean, and easy to articulate"

Thanks to Modern Drummer and Chap Ostrander for the great review, and their continued support of Craviotto Drum Company.

DRUMMER (UK) JULY ’07
LIMITED SERIES CHERRY & MAHOGANY SNARE DRUMS
“You Should Seriously Consider One Of These Sexy Minxes."
Alex Reeves of DRUMMER Magazine (UK) recently wrote an exclusive review on two of Johnny Craviotto’s Limited Series Snare Drums. To say the least, Alex was impressed with both the 6.5 x 14 Limited Black Cherry & 5.5 x 14 Limited Mahogany Snare Drums. Discussing in detail, how each drum can be used in multiple situations, these drums provide response and tone that offers versatility, warmth, and well rounded resonance.

Mr. Reeves also pointed out the many tuning characteristics. Tuned tight or loose, playing pianissimo to forte provided definition and depth without being overbearing. “At a low volume they give you a defined chatter that an orchestral snare could, and a mezzo piano backbeat reveals depths of tone that belies the materials toughness.”

Not only are drums tonally gorgeous, and record with exceptional clarity, but esthetically they provide a naturally-delicate reddish grain - complimented by Johnny’s signature diamond hardware.

High praise indeed… Thanks for the great review Alex!

Craviotto's Solid Shell Drum Kits - "These babies are worth every penny..."
Craviotto Solid Shell Drum Sets recently received a jaw-dropping review in the June '07 Issue of DRUM! Magazine. The detailed run down of our "one-ply" shell construction, and Craviotto's tedious attention to detail is highlighted throughout the article. Craviotto's Solid Shell Drum Sets come complete with top-notch accessories, such as Gauger (GPI) Alloy RIMS suspension systems, and Remo heads. There are currently less than 30 unique kits in the market, with more unique kits in the pipeline. Fully customized to the customers needs! "These are, quite simply, highly playable and highly collectable drums of the utmost quality..."

Modern Drummer
High Marks For Unlimited Edition Snare Drum
Craviotto Unlimited Edition drums are very responsive, exhibit lots of overtones, and are very loud. The Trick machined aluminum throw-off operates smoothly and quietly, the 20-strand snares are responsive, and the 10-lug design allows great versatility of tuning. These drums offer articulation and sensitivity that’s very competitive with that of mid-priced multi-ply drums. Meanwhile, their single-shell construction offers a level of volume and sustain not often found at anyprice range.

Great Review for the Craviotto Unlimited Edition Maple
With the Unlimited Edition maple, Craviotto promises “high-end performance at a midrange price.” But is it a professional snare drum? Absolutely. It sounds and feels great, is very well crafted and nicely detailed, and even comes with a pair of drum sticks, an additional batter head, and a great Cordura case. It’s nice to see that even the masses can enjoy the finer things in life.

Modern Drummer Reviews Craviotto Limited Edition Snares
John Craviotto has created a series of solid-shell snare drums that expands and complements the range of high-end snare drums available today. These drums are worth searching out to see and hear for yourself. They’re finely crafted and beautifully finished, and they possess distinctive sounds. You can’t ask more from a custom instrument.

Rhythm Magzine Rhythm Magazine
Rhythm reviews the Craviotto Limited Edition Custom Snare
"There’s a uniform appearance to the quartet of snares here that implies a strong, if subtle, brand image. And as far as the natural finishes are concerned, well, it would be a shame to hide away the loveliness of these shells. They’re not outlandishly figured but there’s a consistency and unspoilt beauty to the timber that deserves an audience.

Rhythm Magzine Drum Magazine
Raving Review From Drum Magazine
"
I have gushed freely in this review, but as someone who has made drums and makes his living with drums, it is rare to find such a high level of craftsmanship in such a seemingly simple instrument as a snare drum. Yet it is in those little details that the true caluie of a drum is found. This is what makes these drums worth the asking price. There are production line drums that cost more than these drums, and there are solid shell drums that cost less, but I've rarely seen a snare drum that has brought together so many elements of quality in such a beautiful and classic way. And when that happens, it ceases just being a drums, and becomes a piece of musical art."

Rhythm Magzine Not So Modern Drummer Magazine
Not So Modern Drummer runs the Johnny Craviotto Story
"By the middle of 2003, Johnny along with his closest friends and associates, decided that the time was right for him to develop his own line of drums. So, in addition to providing component shells to other companies, Johnny began developing and building his own drums. At the January 2004 NAMM show in Anaheim, Johnny launched his own drum company, the Craviotto Drum Co. Although his first year’s production is limited to only 250 of each of the American Ash, Birdseye Maple, Black Cherry and Mahogany solid snare drum models, rest assured that the master drum builder has a lot more of tricks up his sleeves.
